American USMC Veteran, Extreme Sport Endurance Enthusiast, Triathlete, Safety Professional, Orator, Business owner, Family man, and Host of THE IRON MAN MIKE SHOW podcast. On social media, Michael Anthony Urueta, also known as Ironman Mike, was born on September 21st, 1966, in San Jose, California. He grew up in South San Jose and Morgan Hill, CA. His father is from Salinas, CA, and his mother is from Mt. Clemons, MI… Growing up, he found a passion for wrestling at age 12. He then attended Martin Murphy Middle school and had an undefeated record in wrestling. During his high school years, Michael began playing football and wrestling, where he had a life-changing situation during his junior year of high school. At the age of 17, Michael moved out of his parent’s home during his junior year of high school and had to get a job and support himself. Michael graduated in 1985 from Live Oak High School and soon found his way to the Skyline Junior Colleges Varsity wrestling team. He also went to San Jose City College, where he played football and threw the Javelin. After a year and a half of college, he joined the United States Marine Corps, got married, worked part-time at NASA, and moved to Oahu, HI, in 1990. IRONMAN MIKE Marines Mike Urueta Tesla Motor Spartan Race Hawaii Oahu Michael returned to California in 1996, completing a total of nine years in both the reserves and active duty; he made his way back to California, where he pursued mixed martial arts, Brazilian Ju Jit Su and Japanese Ju Jit Su: Kotegaeshi: (turning wrist locks), as a part-time wrestling coach for Livermore, Ca. high schools, and then in Dublin, for Tri-Valley Martial Arts. He also worked temporarily with Ju-Jitsu Brazilian mixed martial arts legend and a champion fighter, Ralph Gracie. In 1998 Michael competed in the AJJF (American Judo Ju Jit Su Federation) National Ju Jit Su Championships in Freestyle Rokyu. Michael won the National Championships in both events, SUMO and Ju Jit Su. He soon earned his Green Belt (YONKYU). From 1998-to 1999, he began creating his own business in construction from 1999 through 2014. Then, going back to college, Michael took a job at Tesla Motor, where he ended up working as an Engineering Tech 4 and then transferred to the EHS Engineering team. After leaving Tesla, Michael found a manager role at an Aero-Space company owned by Warren Buffet. After leaving PCC, Michael’s entrepreneurial spirit landed him employment and contracts with fortune 500 companies, such as Honeywell, EMCOR, Stanford Health-Care Valley Care, Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, and Fortune Five-hundred companies. IRONMAN MIKE Marines Mike Urueta Tesla Motor Spartan Race Michael earned his Environmental Health Safety credentials as a safety professional with the Board of Certified Safety Professionals as a CHST: Construction Health Safety Technician in 2019. www.BCSP.com Since 1990, Michael has participated in numerous Triathlons and several half Ironman races; he soon took on his first full Ironman Triathlon: The Vineman in Santa Rosa in 2016, where he finished earning his first full Ironman finishers medal. Michael has four daughters, Amanda, Mariah, Emma, Nevaeh, and two sons, Justin and Jarrad. Michael married his elementary crush in 2012; they’ve known each other since they were in the seventh grade. Michael has a passion for helping others, so he created a Facebook group/Extreme Sport 22, where he helps Veterans who need that extra help or if some need to talk about life. Every day, 22 veterans commit suicide. Providing a positive platform keeps them busy, staying connected with a team, builds camaraderie, and helps them stay accountable to train and work out with our team.
